So, I started a new job last week. Within the first hour, I had saved the program from certain doom; by the end of the second day, I had solved three major crises. Okay, they were not that major, but still. Crises nonetheless, and I handled them without crying and we all know that is all that matters.
And then, this weekend, we bought a house. Well, we agreed to buy a house and we love it and it is awesome. It is no little pink house, that is for sure, but it is a nice, stately Victorian home less than a block from my office. Four bedrooms, all upstairs, so Anthony can have the sports-themed room his mean mother denied him as a child and I can have a dressing room for my SHOES and 291 pairs of pants.
We will also have a nice guest bedroom with a queen-sized bed for anyone who just happens to be passing through southeast Kansas. Ahem.
I am still sort of stunned at how quickly things have happened for me and for us. I interviewed for this job on Halloween, they offered it to me two days later, and I started last week. We will take possession (lord willing and the creek don't rise) before the end of the year, and will move in the first week of 2007. In between now and then, I am planning to finish the coursework for my master's and walk at graduation. This job is an actual job that an actual grown-up would have, and I am now an administrator. Me. The boss of someone (five someones, actually) for real, instead of just in my head. I cannot explain to you how excited I am about everything.
2006 has been a hell of a year. Here's to 2007.
