"Just wait. Good things are coming for you."
Excellent, well-meaning advice. It's even comforting, in the way that the realization that whatever shitty thing is happening to you right now is likely only a temporary state of affairs. It's good to be reminded of that when you're way down the the hole.
But for me, I think it's not so great advice. I give in to the myth that what's next is better, more awesome, and will be worth the wait. I think I have been guilty of being so caught up in waiting for what's next that I have forgotten to take a look around and be thankful for and rejoice in what I already have.
I'm going to try not to do that so much anymore.
